What people build with it

Build a trading bot on real data

Whether you code by hand or with Cursor, Claude Code, Codex or v0, your bot sees the full order book at every moment, the way it would face it live. Clean JSON means your AI assistant writes working integration code on the first try.

What exactly is PolyTest?

PolyTest is a Polymarket backtesting API that lets traders replay historical orderbooks and test trading strategies on crypto prediction markets. Every snapshot includes bid/ask prices, mid price, spread, volume, and full orderbook depth — timestamped to the millisecond. Think of it as a DVR for Up/Down markets: you can rewind to any point and see exactly what the market looked like.

What data do I get per snapshot?

Each snapshot includes: best bid, best ask, mid price, spread, volume, 8 levels of orderbook depth (both bid and ask sides), the underlying coin's reference price (e.g. BTC spot price), and a millisecond-precision timestamp. Everything you'd see on the live market, frozen in time.

Which coins and timeframes are supported?

We currently support BTC, ETH, and SOL Up/Down markets across 5 timeframes: 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h, and 1d. That covers 38,500+ individual markets. XRP, DOGE, and BNB are coming soon — we're already collecting data. More coins are on the roadmap as Polymarket lists new crypto Up/Down pairs.

How far back does the data go?

We have 210M+ snapshots spanning months of continuous data collection. There are zero gaps — we capture every market, every timeframe, every expiration window. The dataset grows daily.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every account starts with a 3-day free trial of the full Builder plan: 14 days of history, orderbook depth, 3 API keys, and 250 requests/min. A card is required up front, and you won't be charged until the trial ends — after 3 days it converts to Builder at $29/mo, billed monthly. Cancel anytime. Prefer to skip the trial? Subscribe directly, monthly or yearly.

How fast is the API?

Median (p50) response time is under 50ms and p99 is under 120ms. Data is edge-cached globally, so you'll get fast responses regardless of where you're located. We also support batch queries if you need to pull large volumes efficiently.

Can I use this to build a trading bot?

Absolutely — that's one of the primary use cases. You get real spread and depth data at every snapshot, so you can simulate realistic order fills including slippage. Most backtesting tools only give you mid-price; PolyTest gives you the full book.

What's the pricing?

Start with a 3-day free trial that converts to Builder ($29/mo, billed monthly) for 14 days of history and orderbook depth, or subscribe to Builder yearly at $17/mo ($204/year). Pro is $49/mo for unlimited data and priority support, with custom Enterprise pricing for high-volume needs. Check the pricing page for full details.

What happens when I cancel?

You can cancel anytime from the Billing dashboard. Cancelling takes effect immediately: your subscription ends, your API keys are revoked, and API access stops right then — not at the end of the billing period. The unused remainder of a paid period isn't refunded or credited, so cancel when you're actually done. Cancelling during the free trial ends it at once and you're never charged. You can subscribe again anytime, though the free trial is one per customer.

Can I export data to CSV?

The API returns JSON by default, but you can trivially convert to CSV in your code. If you're doing academic research and just need a bulk export, reach out — we can help.

I'm new to prediction markets — is PolyTest for me?

Definitely. PolyTest is the easiest way to explore Polymarket's crypto Up/Down markets without risking money first. The 3-day free trial gives you real market data to study how prices, spreads, and orderbooks move. Many of our users started as curious newcomers and now run live strategies. The docs and quickstart guide are written to be approachable — no PhD required.
